HAL-IISc Skill Development Centre:
The centre is aimed to impart skills to various beneficiaries ranging from local community members to high-end engineering professionals to usher true ‘Make-in-India’.
SDC will create a large pool of trained personnel to address the vital skill development gaps in India, which is crucial for economic growth and self-sufficiency.
Background:
The IISc proposed the plan about SDC to HAL in 2016. HAL agreed to support and fund and support the initiative under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. The estimated outlay of Rs.73.7 crore was signed on March 28, 2016. The construction for the centre began on October 27, 2016. The SDC is located on 1,500 acres of land provided by the State Government of Karnataka.
